BOAT SAFARI
The Boat Safari on the River Madhu is something that words would not justify.
The primitive Life Style of the inhabitant of the islands of the Madhu
River is only a boat ride away. The boat ride that takes you through the
thick mongroves, The bird life around, the primitive style of Fishing
and prawn trapping still practiced by the inhabitants of the islands will
reveal to you another facet of splendid Sri Lanka.
GALLE
An ancient city which is a modern and buzzing town today. It was the most
important sea port way back in history, where the sea faring merchants
arrived to trade and barter. This is also where the Portuguese first set
foot in the year 1505 and built a fortress, Which was later captured and
fortified by the Dutch. The fortress is one of the best preserved in the
island. A visit to the fortress and to watch the sunset from the rampart
is an experience unforgettable.
The
oldest Protestant church in the country called the ‘Groote Kirk’
built by the Dutch is located inside the Fort. It is situated close to
New Oriental Hotel also built by them as the Governor’s Residence
in 1684.

visit Ruhunu National Park at Yala. This will include a Safari tour by
jeep with a jungle tracker, where you can see animals in the Jungle; including
elephants , Bears, Wild boar, Dear, Buffalo, Monkeys and many other animals
if you are lucky, leopards too. You also could see different species of
birds. It’s a small experience for bird watch lovers.

DAY 05 : ELLA / HORTON PLAINS / NUWARA ELIYA

PLAINS
Horton Plains situated 7200 feet above sea level covers an area of 7000
acres. Cool water springs which are the starting points of many rivers
are found here. This plains formally called the Mahaweli Plains was renamed
after the second British Governor of Sri Lanka who was Robert Wilmot Horton.
One of the greatest Nature walks could be done at Horton Plains.
Walking through rhododendron, Giant fern and occasionally crossing a brooke
you arrive at Bakers Fall which is named after Thomas William Baker the
pioneer of farming.
You will also view the Breath Taking sight of worlds end which is a steep
precipice, A sight to behold.

06 : NUWARA ELIYA / KANDY

Visit a Tea Plantation and a Tea Factory en route. Sri Lanka being famous
for its “Ceylon Tea” adding cheer to many the world over for
more than a century.

Visit art and craft centre and Gem Bureau where you will be shown a documentary
film on how Sri Lankan Gem mining is traditionally done.

a typical Sri Lankan Cultural Show of Drumming Dancing music and fire
walking.
TEMPLE
OF THE TOOTH OF RELIC
Visit the Temple of the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha. This temple,
the most important one for The Sri Lankan Buddhists was built in the 16th
Century A.D. solely for the purpose of housing the tooth relic.

07 : KANDY / KITHULGALA

BOTANICAL
GARDEN.
Visit the Botanical Garden Peradeniya. Which was a pleasure garden of
a Kandyan King of the 16th Century and later made in to a Botanical Garden
during the British regime.
PINNAWALA
ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE.
Elephant Orphanage, the foster – home of elephants of different
age and size feeding, bathing, playing together and even mating. These
have been found injured or left abandoned in the wilderness. There are
even little baby calves born in captivity.

WALK – KITHULGALA.
Across the Kelani River Kithul Gala lies a patch of Nature Reserve which
is so rich in Bird Life and Natural Beauty. Crossing the River on a premitive
canoe you enter this thickly wooded sanctuary where you will see Birds
butter flies, lizards, Frogs, Fish and even the Tarantula Spider.
